Live Edge Bowl｜Cherry 桜｜NS3

English is below.

A live edge bowl turned from wood by German woodturner Franz Keilhofer, keeping the natural curve of the tree's edge. Grain, colour and edge shape differ from piece to piece, and the exact piece shown in the photos is the one you will receive.

• Item No.: NS3
• Wood: Cherry
• Size: W 20.5 × H 8 cm
• Weight: approx. 150 g
• Origin: Germany

Every bowl is a live-edge bowl, with the tree's bark left as the rim. Each is turned twice: roughed out first, left to dry for several months, then returned to the lathe for finishing. Keeping the soft, brittle bark intact through the whole process is difficult, and each species shows its own bark (some still carry moss or ivy). All the wood is sourced locally from trees that reached the end of their life, were brought down by storms or had to be felled for safety, so no tree is cut just for this work. Franz does every step himself, from milling and drying to finishing.

A card with the coordinates of the place where the tree grew is included; scan its QR code to see the location on Google Maps. As this is a wooden piece, please avoid soaking it in water for long periods, direct sunlight and sudden drying.
