When Franz finds a special piece in a log, he seals it and keeps it in the freezer so it stays fresh until he is ready to work. Unlike his other pieces, the inside is finished before the outside. As the wood dries it shrinks, bends and warps, creating an organic shape that is never the same twice. Once dry, the base is trimmed so the vase stands steadily, copper staples or thin strips of ebony are used where needed, and a protective oil is applied.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA card with the coordinates of the place where the tree grew is included; scan its QR code to see the location on Google Maps.
